Staunton realtor-reservist deployed to Kuwait

??????????By Lynn R. Mitchell

Staunton realtor Phillip Lacey, a VMI graduate and reservist with the Virginia National Guard’s Camp Pendleton-based 529th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group, joined his unit of 70 on Sunday as they prepared to leave for Fort Hood, Texas, to train for deployment to Kuwait.

From WVEC ABC-13 news:

At a pre-deployment ceremony, the deploying soldiers were joined by other members of their guard unit, as well as Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Brian Moran and Brig. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia. As part of the ceremony, soldiers from the Clifton Forge-based 29th Division Band provide music for the ceremony and cadets from the Camp Pendleton-based Commonwealth ChalleNGe program provided the color guard. Members of the Virginia Defense Force volunteered their time to assist with parking.

After training, these soldiers will deploy to Kuwait for up to 12 months. There, we’re told they’ll “operate as a mission command headquarters with the task of planning and executing combat sustainment support for U.S. and coalition forces in Kuwait and the surrounding region.”

Godspeed to Phillip and the entire unit.
