It was a good day to pop up to the Blue Ridge Parkway for a picnic lunch at Humpback Rock picnic area so that’s exactly what we did. With a brisk breeze, the temperature in the mountains was a comfortable 82 degrees in the middle of the day, perfect to meander along the Parkway and check favorite hideouts.

The picnic area appears to be a little neglected with tall grass and weeds around some of the tables.
It was hazy looking out toward the Shenandoah Valley and Stuarts Draft-Waynesboro.
The Rockfish Valley east of the Blue Ridge.
The famous Humpback Rock was visible from the Blue Ridge Parkway heading north toward Humpback Rock Farm and Afton. It was an impromptu meander and I had left my camera at home so all photos were taken with my phone.
