Picnicking along the Blue Ridge Parkway

Blue Ridge Parkway 1It was a good day to pop up to the Blue Ridge Parkway for a picnic lunch at Humpback Rock picnic area so that’s exactly what we did.  With a brisk breeze, the temperature in the mountains was a comfortable 82 degrees in the middle of the day, perfect to meander along the Parkway and check favorite hideouts.

Humpback Rock picnic areaThe picnic area appears to be a little neglected with tall grass and weeds around some of the tables.

Blue Ridge Parkway 3It was hazy looking out toward the Shenandoah Valley and Stuarts Draft-Waynesboro.

Humpback RockThe famous Humpback Rock was visible from the Blue Ridge Parkway heading north toward Humpback Rock Farm and Afton. It was an impromptu meander and I had left my camera at home so all photos were taken with my phone.
