Former Virginia Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling, long-time political ally with former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, commented Thursday night on Facebook about the verdict that was returned Thursday afternoon in Richmond:
Today’s verdict in the McDonnell trial is heartbreaking on many levels. Time will tell if the jury’s verdict will stand. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the McDonnell family and with Virginia. This is a sad day for our state. The public’s trust is hard to gain and easy to lose. It has been lost, and all who have the privilege of serving in elected office must work to regain the public’s trust and make certain that a situation like this cannot occur again.
