I never want to live where apple trees won’t grow. There is something soothing about the seasons and fall brings an abundance of apples that are now being harvested from Virginia orchards. Fall! That time when the hot, searing temps of summer fade and the cool, crisp temps of fall slip in along with colorful fall leaves and lots of apples and pumpkins.
Apples … the fruit of fall especially in Virginia’s mountains whether you pick your own out of vintage wooden crates of already-picked or pick your own off the trees in the orchard. Ripe, juicy, abundant … fresh apples are available from August through October.
No matter if they are in the crate or on the tree, the sweet smell of apples in the air.
