Just in time for Christmas baking, the Washington Post felt it necessary to notify everyone that a chocolate shortage may be on the horizon (see The world’s biggest chocolate-maker says we’re running out of chocolate by Roberto A. Ferdman).
For someone who practices my somewhat-limited-but-always-fun chocolatier skills during the holiday season, it was not good news. After all, there’s fudge and pralines and chocolate-covered toffee and fudgy torts and more to bake and swirl and design.
Chocolate shortage? Say it ain’t true!
It’s also probably due to monoculture, just like the problems that are happening with bananas and other crops.
