At dusk on Monday, Staunton’s Gypsy Hill Park came to life as thousands of lights were lit for the 2014 Celebration of Lights. This marks the 10th anniversary of the popular local event that draws thousands of viewers year after year and has become a tradition for many Valley families.
It has been a Christmas tradition for us since it began, taking SWAC Niece on the annual pilgrimage driving through Gypsy Hill Park to ooh and ahhh over light display provided by various churches, civic organizations, businesses, and others in the community. With more displays added annually, it offers entertainment for young and old alike … from sacred to whimsical to joyful. She may be 19 now but I’m sure SWAC Niece will still be looking forward to the Celebration of Lights that will be on display through New Year’s Day.
It’s Christmas in the Shenandoah Valley….
