Dear homeschoolers, please ask Governor to support ‘Tebow Bill’

The heavy lifting has been done. Delegate Rob Bell has seen to that. All that is left is for homeschoolers to email Governor Terry McAuliffe to encourage him to sign HB 1626 — the “Tebow Bill” — to allow homeschoolers to participate in sports and other competitive events such as forensics and band.

From Delegate Rob Bell:

This week my “Tebow Bill” – House Bill 1626 – passed the Virginia State Senate with a vote of 22-13.

This would permit local schools to have homeschoolers participate in sports and other competitive events like forensics or band.  Other legislators like Senator Bill Carrico and Delegate Dick Fischer have brought versions since at least 1995, but this is the first time the bill has passed both houses of the general assembly.  (In other words, this is the furthest we have gotten in 20 years!)

Now all we need is Governor Terry McAuliffe’s signature.

You can help!  Please contact Governor McAuliffe and tell him your thoughts on the bill.  You can e-mail him here.

It’s been a long time getting to this point. Please ask others if they will contact the governor and ask him to sign HB 1626 … the Tebow Bill.

Background: Rob Bell’s ‘Tebow Bill’ passes … now on to governor.
