Virginia’s Governor Terry McAuliffe became the latest member of the bipartisan Council of Governors made up of 10 governors who advise the White House and U.S. national security leadership on matters related to the National Guard and civil support missions, according to a press release from the governor’s office.
The governor noted his appreciation of being included in the group:
“I am honored to join this distinguished group of Governors from across the country who advise our President and national security leadership on keeping our states and our nation safe. Virginia is more connected to the military than any other, and plays a central role in this country’s national defense and homeland security and I am eager to work with our colleagues in the federal government and across the country to bring our Commonwealth’s voice to the table.”
