Attorney Tony Pham announced in a Monday press release that he will run for Henrico Commonwealth’s Attorney:
“Henrico County is where we began our journey as Americans,” said Tony Pham. “This is where I started my own family. I am excited to represent the County I love and restore leadership, trust, and transparency to an office that has immense authority over our lives.”
The Pham family immigrated to the United States in April 1975, as the Vietnam War came to a close. They left behind everything they had and everyone they knew, in search of freedom and hope.
As a refugee growing up in poverty, he gained an appreciation for our freedoms and individual liberties. His life experiences provided him with the appreciation of those who have served in our Armed Forces as well as the opportunities to have directly experienced and lived the American Dream.
Living the American Dream afforded Pham the opportunity to start his family, to raise his children and to graduate from the College of William & Mary and the University of Richmond School of Law. Because of the kindness of those in our community as his family struggled to survive, he is driven to give back in his professional and personal life.
As such, his love for our community motivates him to seek a position of public trust. This is not a partisan political fight, but one which transcends partisanship. As a conservative Republican, Pham has established a proven record of bipartisan success. This record will allow him to lay out the need for leadership, trust, and transparency in the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
The qualifications needed for the position include experience as a prosecutor, understanding that each case is different, and an ability to build trust in our various communities. Pham possesses all of these qualifications. The many years he invested as a prosecutor protecting our community by handling gang and homicide cases allowed him to build a foundation of trial experience. His work as in-house counsel in the second largest jail in the Commonwealth provided him with the perspective that each person and case are individual. Finally, his service to our Henrico community as a member of the Virginia State Bar’s Disciplinary Board, Coordinator for the Rule of Law program in our Henrico schools, and involvement in various leadership organizations provide him with the immediate credibility to build trust with all of our stakeholders in the criminal justice system.
Further, Henrico deserves a servant who will work with the police officers, respect victims and build coalitions and inclusiveness in the community, which creates trust in the criminal justice system.
Tony Pham has a positive plan to bring effective leadership, trust, and transparency to the Henrico Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and to ensure Henrico continues to be a safe community for families to raise their children, not one where families leave due to increased crime.
