LTE: ‘Hanger a man of integrity, a statesman’

EmmettBy Lynn R. Mitchell

With only twelve days left until the June 9th Primary, letters to the editor continue to be published supporting state Senator Emmett Hanger including this one from Larry Roller of Mount Sidney (see Hanger a man of integrity, a statesman):

Emmett Hanger is a man of integrity and a real statesman. Years ago when the Republican cry was “no new taxes,” he stated that instead, he was for tax reform. He saw that we got tax reform and everyone has benefited in real tax savings because he convinced the General Assembly to lower the sales tax on groceries. He has always considered the need of his constitutes to be his first priority. Emmett does not cater to any special interest groups, but seeks only to serve us.

Emmett Hanger was the first Republican to be elected to a public office in Augusta County as Commissioner of Revenue. He has served us in the House of Delegates for nine years and has served 19 years in the state senate. He has the experience and seniority that we need in the General Assembly—especially our need to keep a Republican majority in the senate.

The person with the most seniority gets the most important and powerful positions in both the House of Delegates and in the senate. Emmett now ranks eighth in seniority in the senate and will be in a position to influence the important decisions. To lose this seniority that we have spent so many years developing would be a real tragedy and a loss to all Virginians.

Let’s vote for Emmett Hanger in the June 9 Republican primary.

L. W. ROLLER
Mount Sidney

Voters in the 24th Senate District will vote at their usual polling places from 6am-7pm.
