[Editor’s note: The crape myrtles are blooming at my parents’ house in Richmond so I was happy to receive this group of colorful photos from my step-dad of the varieties and colors that are in full bloom around their yard. Enjoy!]
It’s summer and the crape myrtles are in full bloom in Richmond.

Calvin Lucy, Jr. is an 88-year-old Richmond native who retired in 1988 after 40 years with Dominion Virginia Power. His father was one of the founders of WRVA radio, present WWBT-TV, and WCVE public television and the first President of the CBS Affiliates Advisory Board. Calvin remains active in the community, church, Dominon Retirees, and the John Marshall High School Class of 1943. He is married, is the father and step-father of seven, and lives in Chesterfield.
Thanks for using the crape photos. Waiting for the sun shine to be right on a partly cloudy day tried my patience. Your camera probably would do better justice to the true colors than my PIX 3200. YLSF
