‘Barrel’ clouds over the Shenandoah Valley

1Driving through Augusta County Saturday afternoon, it was impossible to not notice the unusual shape of the clouds. These pictures don’t even begin to do them justice but they give an idea of what we saw.

    If you noticed on the weather channels, these same types of formation appeared in rows in the upper Ohio Valley – extending from SW to NE, all moving rapidly to the southeast. As each row moved, the temperature behind it was lower, and that’s what producing the precipitation then blue sky then more precipitation that we have now. Strange stuff !! YLSF
