2016 Carolina Panthers versus Denver Broncos: Super Bowl 50

Super Bowl 50By Lynn R. Mitchell

It’s here. The 50th Super Bowl will be played Sunday with my two favorite football teams — the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Bronocs. This, for me, is a dream super bowl.

I have been a Broncos fan since the late 1970s when my sister settled in Denver and attended graduate school at the University of Colorado. Through the John Elway years, then Tim Tebow, and then Peyton Manning … still there after all these years. So is my sister who now lives in Austin, and my Colorado brother-in-law who lives in RVA. It could be Manning’s last game of his career. Orange Crush!

But during the years when we lived in North Carolina, Charlotte acquired two pro teams: the Charlotte Hornets basketball team, and then in 1995 the Carolina Panthers football team came to be. Our family joined in the excitement of Carolinians — North and South — who embraced the newest athletic attraction. My children became little Panthers fans and today they are grown-up Panthers fans. This year Carolina will have the help of Michael Oher, subject of the movie “The Blind Side.” The Panthers have never won a Super Bowl so I will join my children in rooting for their victory. #KeepPounding #PantherNation #SB50

But the best part of having both favorite teams playing is that I will be happy, no matter who wins.

Super Bowl 50, that very American tradition with munchies and friends and half time shows and much-anticipated commercials. Enjoy the fun….
