Attorney Eddie Whitlock is new Henrico GOP chair

Whitlock for Henrico GOP chair
It was a decisive victory for Eddie Whitlock who won the open chairman seat at Tuesday night’s Henrico County Republican Committee mass meeting held at Deep Run High School. A large crowd of 667 registered to participate in the election between Whitlock, who received 410 votes, and his opponent Jim Herring, who received 235 votes.

Whitlock, who is a graduate of the University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law, practices as a partner at Lafayette, Ayers, and Whitlock, and has been involved in Republican politics. His Facebook page on Wednesday was full of congratulations from supporters who wished him well as he began his two-year term.

On his Eddie Whitlock for Henrico County Republican Committee Chairman Facebook page, he wrote a thank you to those who had attended and voted for him:

Thank you to all who came out tonight for the Henrico Republican Committee Mass Meeting – 667 registered, 665 votes were cast. I thank all for their spirit and enthusiasm.

I thank Jim Herring for a wonderful race, and a gracious motion for unity to elect me by unanimous acclimation after the count. I am proud to have received 430 votes.

I appreciate your confidence in me, and I strive to earn your support every day in the two year term to come.

Tonight I shall rest. Tomorrow I shall go to work. Unity!

Chesterfield’s own Peter Foster and political guru Bret Feinstein ran the campaign and worked to turn out the vote.
