The “LYNN” jumped out at me every time I saw one of these signs along the roadways in the 25th House District. My son and others took note because of the last name. If anyone sees one of these in the landfill, I want one! For the record, Democrat Angela Lynn ran against Republican Steve Landes.

Delegate Steve Landes (R-25th House District) announced Monday that he will seek an eleventh term in the Virginia House of Delegates, an area that includes parts of Augusta, Albemarle, and Rockingham counties. He will have a Democratic opponent, Angela Lynn, who announced last week that she would seek the Democratic nomination to run against Landes (see 25th House District: Landes to have Democratic challenger).

Delegate Landes currently serves as chairman of the House Education Committee, Vice Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, and is a member of the House Rules and Privileges and Elections Committees.

Landes and wife Angela, an Augusta County assistant commonwealth’s attorney, have a son and live in Augusta County. He is vice president of market development for Blue Ridge Bank.

Though Delegate Landes was coy about running for re-election, there are no indications that he will not do so:

Landes, 55, would not say Thursday whether he plans to seek re-election.

“At this point, I’m going to focus on the issues I’ve got going on down here,” Landes said Thursday from his Richmond office. “I’m headed in that direction, but I won’t make a determination for at least a few weeks.”

The district is overwhelmingly Republican. Before Delegate Landes, it was represented for decades by Republican Delegate Pete Giesen.
