A Charlie Brown Christmas first aired on December 9, 1965, and became a classic that still rings true almost 50 years later. One reason it remains among the most popular Christmas shows of the season may be because friend Linus reminds Charlie Brown of the true meaning of Christmas by reciting the King James Bible New Testament verses from Luke 2:8-14 describing the birth of Christ.

The fact that the message is delivered by an animated character doesn’t diminish the impact of the meaning.

A comment left on my Facebook page late Friday night was in response to the post, Does God let bad things happen to good people? The commenter wrote:

“Believing there’s an invisible man in the sky who makes it all better if you just ask nicely is ridiculous.”

 

Does God let bad things happen to good people?

I was talking with friends last night and the conversations came around to questioning why God lets bad things happen to good people. This morning as I read a devotional by John Maxwell, it seemed timely and helped put the conversation into perspective:
