Moving Dirt at Frontier Culture Museum for Chick-Fil-A, Bojangles, Aldi, More

There’s no way you could have missed all the earth moving equipment the past weeks in front of the Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia (FCMV) on Richmond Road (Rt. 250) in Staunton or, for that case, on the opposite side of the road where the city of Staunton is clearing land for retail development.

But in front of the FCMV, facing onto Richmond Road/Rt. 250, are spaces where Chick-Fil-A, Bojangles, Aldi, and other retail will be going up. It’s been in the planning for several years as the Museum worked with developers to design and lay out the space, and bring in tenants.

Chick-Fil-A had originally planned to be open a year ago. A delay with the property slowed their plans.

I wrote 18 months ago about the owner of Charlottesville’s Bojangles telling us he would be opening a location in Staunton.

There are also proposals to perhaps have a hotel and another restaurant so stay tuned to see what else will join Sheetz in that popular location that will be very accessible to travelers on I-81.

Bojangles coming to Staunton and Waynesboro

By Lynn R. Mitchell

Stopping by the brand new Bojangles in Charlottesville’s Pantops (I-64, exit 124) on Rt. 250) area on Tuesday, we got the low-down on future Bojangles locations in the area from the owner himself. He confirmed the rumors that have been circulating in the Staunton area.

He is opening a Bojangles in Staunton on Richmond Road near the Sheetz and Frontier Culture Museum. From I-81, that’s exit 222 — WalMart, Lowe’s, Starbucks, Rowe’s, Cracker Barrel, Texas Steakhouse, Chili’s, and Martin’s Food Market. He mentioned that plans also call for a Chick-Fil-A and McDonald’s (replacing the one in the service station on the east side of the interstate) that will locate in that same area along with a hotel and restaurant. Exit 222 has been begging for development along the strip of Richmond Road between the interstate and Frontier Drive.

He said he also plans to open a Bojangles in Waynesboro at the location of the old Ladd Elementary School located off I-64’s exit 96. That area of Rt. 340 also has WalMart, Martin’s Food Market, Applebee’s Ruby Tuesday’s Starbucks, Cracker Barrel, Target, Kohl’s, and other restaurants and hotels.

Many in the area have been asking for a Bojangles and Chick-fil-A so it looks like we won’t have much longer to wait, Staunton. Perhaps in 2017….

It’s Bo Time … Harrisonburg Bojangles now open

??????????By Lynn R. Mitchell

We drove out Port Republican Road through Harrisonburg Saturday and passed the new Bojangles Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits restaurant that is now open. From the looks of the cars wrapped around the building and the filled parking lot, it appears this will be a very popular spot just across from the new Rockingham Memorial Hospital east of the city.

Bojangles coming to Harrisonburg … could Staunton be next? – UPDATE: Now open

BojanglesBy Lynn R. Mitchell

This is for my husband who was hoping Staunton would lure a Bojangles Famous Chicken and Biscuits restaurant. It looks like Harrisonburg beat them to it with the new franchise going in on Port Republic Road near the new Rockingham Memorial Hospital east of town. Maybe Bojangles will next try for a Staunton location somewhere along I-81 and catch interstate travelers as well as locals. Read all the details at WHSV TV-3.

UPDATE September 20, 2014: Bojangles in Harrisonburg is now OPEN. Click here for more info about location and more.
