We had a fantastic time manning the Jeb Bush for President 2016 table at the Advance. It was like Grand Central Station as fellow Republicans stopped by to visit, pick up materials, and talk politics — the only presidential table that had real live people at it. The interest is high and Jeb is in it to win it. Not only does he have the ground game but also the money to sustain and make it through the primaries. He just filed to get on the ballot in Ohio — the first candidate to do so. #AllinforJeb #Jeb2016

Bearing Drift smoked out the competition with their cigar and coffee suite

By Lynn R. Mitchell

Homestead 2015 15If you take the Bearing Drift writers and add cigars and coffee, you get an atmosphere for political discussion and visiting with friends and political allies. Homestead 2015 17Aren’t they pretty? They were popular with suite guests, and a couple of them also smoked pipes. Hosts Brian Schoeneman, Shaun Kenney, and Matt Hall mixed it up with familiar faces who began crowding the porch as the evening went on.

George W was at The Homestead this week

By Lynn R. Mitchell

I missed it! Word slipped out Wednesday that former President George W. Bush spent three days at The Homestead Resort in Bath County. He arrived Monday and left Wednesday, playing golf and enjoying one of my favorite places in Virginia. I’ll get to walk in his footsteps next time I’m there….

WDBJ-7 reported on it (see Former President George W. Bush vacationed this week at The Homestead). Forty-three did a good job of staying under the radar during his visit. Good for him … hope he enjoyed his time in the Virginia mountains.
